The Department of Architecture is pleased to announce that Rob Williams has been awarded tenure and promoted to Associate Professor. Since joining UMass Amherst in 2020, Williams has established a national reputation for his innovative work at the intersection of architectural design, building science, and sustainable development. His scholarship focuses on housing, decarbonization, and high-performance building systems, and includes peer-reviewed publications, award-winning built projects, and nationally recognized design-build initiatives. A co-founder of UMass DesignBuild and recipient of the 2024 ACSA New Faculty Teaching Award and the 2025 ACSA Best Project Award, Williams has distinguished himself as an outstanding researcher, educator, and mentor.
