At least three architecture students were displaced in the devastating Olympia Place Fire in Amherst on November 7, 2025. While thankfully there were no injuries, residents lost their homes and belongings. According to the Town of Amherst, 230 of the 236 residents were students at UMass, and “UMass has actively been supporting the affected students with housing, legal assistance, basic needs, academic accommodations, counseling, and financial assistance.” Alumni have asked how they might support these students, and we recommend donating to the Student Care and Emergency Response Fund, via UMass Amherst. Physical donations can be brought to New2U, a University thrift store.
