UMass Department of Architecture is committed to supporting students in need, whether at the beginning of their academic journey or nearing its close. If you would like to contribute to ensuring that socioeconomically disadvantaged students have the opportunity to study architecture, please consider a gift to the program through one of the funds below.
Architecture Access Fund
The Architecture Access Fund may be used to support high school or UMass Amherst undergraduate students by offsetting expenses associated with attending the UMass Amherst Department of Architecture Summer Design Academy, or its successor, with preference for supporting high school students. Secondarily, the Fund may also be used to provide support to undergraduate Architecture majors who will be participating in an internship. Recipients will be selected based on merit. For both uses of the Fund, preference will be given to socioeconomically disadvantaged students. The fund was established in 2020 with lead gifts from architects, designers, builders, suppliers, and others in Western Massachusetts.

Kathleen Lugosch Architecture Award Fund
The purpose of this endowed fund, which honors recently retired Professor Kathleen Lugosch, is to support graduate students in the Master of Architecture program with financial need, particularly those who are socioeconomically disadvantaged and disproportionately impacted by the lack of resources to continue their educational pursuits. It was established in 2021 by a lead gift from Charles Hadley ’64.
