Over the summer Associate Professor Ajla Aksamija presented three publications which are part of the same research project involving developing a framework for integrating parametric design methods with building performance analysis procedures, and testing it using BIM-based, non-BIM, parametric design, and building simulation tools. The framework was tested using existing software applications, and evaluated the workflows, interoperability, modeling strategies, and simulation results; specifically for energy analysis, solar radiation, and daylighting. Akamija presented at the EAAE/ARCC International 2018 Conference in Philadelphia, PA in May and at the Mongeometrija 2018: 6th International Conference on Geometry and Graphics in Novi Sad, Serbia, in June. You can read an article about the work, titled, “Integration of Parametric Design Methods and Building Performance Simulations for High-Performance Buildings: Methods and Tools” in the Perkins+Will Research Journal.
