Congratulations to Max Page, Professor of Architecture, and Director of Historic Preservation Initiatives at UMass Amherst, who is one of three recipients of a 2018 UMass Samuel F. Conti Faculty Fellowship. The fellowship recognizes outstanding accomplishments in research and creative activity. Max's accomplishments are many, including the publication of two books in 2016: Why Preservation Matters and a collection of essays, co-edited with Marla Miller called, Bending the Future: 50 Ideas for the Next 50 Years of Historic Preservation in the United States.
Max's interest in the historical extends beyond architecture. Check out this conversation with Ilan Stavans, titled, "On Jealousy" in which Max discusses the complex interpretations of Judaism vis-a-vis our valued objects and spaces historically and in contemporary society.
