Anti-Racist Community Engagement: Principles and Practices (Campus Compact, 2023), a new book, in which Professor Joseph Krupczynski is part of an eight-member editorial team, aims to promote anti-racist values in higher education’s community engagement efforts, both within and beyond college and university campuses.

Krupczynski notes that, “the contributors of this book describe constructive practices that reset community-campus partnerships and promote institutional change. They reassess courses and curriculum to ensure that critiques of power and efforts to dismantle structural racism are part of their teaching, learning, and research strategies — and that their work is grounded in community voice and vision.”

The book recently received the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Award from the International Association for Research on Service-Learning and Community Engagement. The award recognizes excellence in DEI research and scholarship.

A western Massachusetts regional book launch featuring select authors and editors will be held at UMass Amherst on Friday, December 1, from 9:30am– 12:00pm at the Commonwealth Honors College Event Hall.
