Professors Ray Mann and Erika Zekos represented our department during the HFA Days research and outreach events. At the Faculty Lightning Talks, Professor Mann presented “Too Small to Succeed?” sharing collaborative research with Assistant Professor Rob Williams on the barriers to implementing accessory dwelling units (ADUs) despite supportive state policy, and exploring both data-driven and visual design strategies to address them. Senior Lecturer Zekos presented “Meaning-Making in Community-Engaged Architectural Design Studio Practice, ” highlighting how students in a critically informed studio course grapple with identity, privilege, and the architect’s role in community-focused work. Our Graduate Thesis Reviews were also featured in the eventful line-up of activities.
Well-done and congratulations to all involved - including our students – for contributing to the success of this meaningful initiative.
