The Department of Architecture at UMass Amherst recently hosted the 2026 Metal Building Manufacturers Association (MBMA) Architectural Faculty Workshop, organized by Professor Stephen Schreiber in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students. The multi-day event brought together educators and industry leaders to explore current practices and emerging ideas in metal building design and construction.
The program featured presentations by Jon-Paul Cardin, Tony Bouquot, Eric Pros, Professor Schreiber, and Janet Marie Smith, alongside valuable perspectives from UMass students/alums (Bobby Buttrick MArch’23, Ashik Mubarak MArch’24, Krashang Giri Goswami MArch’26) and staff highlighting several recent campus projects. The workshop concluded with a tour of a regional metal building manufacturing facility, offering participants a firsthand look at contemporary fabrication processes.
The department was pleased to welcome colleagues from across the country and to showcase the work and ideas shaping architectural education at UMass.
