Architectures of Collectivity
Architectures of Collectivity opened February 11th. The show is designed and curated by Architecture Professor Pari Riahi and runs until March 13th. This project is an investigation of the relationship between architecture and its environments. It centers on Parisian suburbs, which house a large population and are at times portrayed as spaces of violence, disparity, and segregation. The photographs and constructs document the suburbs in their current conditions by identifying the ground as the primary element that holds both the formed structure of the city and the shifting fields of public housing projects in the suburbs. They tell the story of these architectures of collectivity and their shared ground, which take many forms, from terrains-vagues to productive landscapes.
The Design Building Gallery is open to the public from 9am-4pm Monday through Friday, except on holidays.
