Daoru Wang, PhD

Daoru Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His teaching focuses on structural design and analysis, integrating digital design workflows with structural analysis.

He earned his Ph.D. in Design and his Bachelor of Architecture from North Carolina State University, and his Master of Architecture from Yale University. His research explores the intersection of computational design, structural optimization, and artificial intelligence in architecture. He is the developer of Bridge, an open-source plugin that connects Rhino/Grasshopper workflows with structural analysis software such as SAP2000, enabling designers to seamlessly integrate structural analysis into the early stages of design.

In addition to his research and teaching, Daoru creates educational content on structural modeling, structural design and analysis, digital modeling, construction, and related topics through his YouTube channel.
