On April 18 & 19, 2001, the 52-year old Pin Oak Tree (Quercus Palustris) was saved and transplanted by the UMass Landscape crew. The Pin Oak tree - first transplanted by the class of 1909 (see photo below) is now located north of the Isenberg School of Management.
The transplanting of the tree was dedicated in honor of R. Marc Fournier who was the Assistant Director for Grounds Management from March 1978 to July 2002. On the dedication inscription Fournier is quoted as saying: "It was a long day but a great team effort. It looks wonderful."
