“Pam’s impact during her 28 years working at UMass would be impossible to measure,” said Shane Conklin, associate vice chancellor of FCS. “She filled many roles in Facilities & Campus Services and positively impacted countless lives across the entire campus community along the way. Her hard work, positive attitude, and dedication to her job, co-workers, and staff were manifest in everything she did, and it showed around campus. She will be deeply missed.”
In Memory Of Pam Monn
Pam Monn, a long-time member of the Waugh Arboretum Committee, died on August 21, 2025. As a committee member and in her position as Director of Grounds & Events for Facilities & Campus Services (FCS), Pam was among the most passionate and engaged advocates for our campus landscape, including the trees and arboretum. Many of the positive things that happened over the years, including our status as a Level IV Accredited Arboretum and Tree Campus USA designation, were a direct result of her advocacy and hard work.
Spring 2026 Tribute Tree Planting
In Pam's memory and as a tribute to her life, we will be planting a Pinnacle Oak (Quercus macrocarpa ‘Urban Pinnacle’) on the UMass Amherst campus. The planting may take place as early as Spring 2026. Details will be posted as plans develop.
With your help, this tree will stand as a fitting testament to Pam’s long and dedicated service to the university and its people she loved so well.
