PhD candidate, Cagla Ay has been awarded a Middle East Section (MES) of the AAA 2023 photo contest. Photographs should speak broadly to the idea of "Transitions" the theme of the 2023 AAA conference.
"The committee was moved and inspired by your series of photographs, which captured the color and labor of the orange harvest, the side-by-side processes of more-than-human and human labor, and the symbolic importance of the orange for the nation in Turkey. Your photography balanced the ethnographic, the theoretical, and the aesthetic, and your photographs also exuded a charm that drew us all in."
