Services

UMass Extension Turf Program

One of the primary missions of UMass Extension is to provide aid to practitioners and others in solving problems. We interact directly with turf managers through a number of services that we provide:

Email List

Our e-mail list exists to facilitate an electronic connection between the UMass Extension Turf Program and the turf industry.  A message to the list is our fastest and most dynamic means of relaying information.

Fungicide Resistance Assay

The fungicide sensitivity assay is an extension service for golf course superintendents and other turf managers who experience difficulty controlling dollar spot disease.

Comprehensive Nematode Evaluation

Plant parasitic nematodes occur in all soils but in golf greens they can build up to very high population densities. The only way to determine if nematodes are a problem is to have the soil assayed for nematode population levels.

Additional Services

Select services offered by the UMass Extension Turf Program are available only by special arrangement.

Plant Problem Diagnostics

The UMass Extension Plant Diagnostic lab provides diagnoses and recommendations for a range of turfgrass disorders and pest issues.  Ancillary services including tick-borne disease diagnostics are also available.

Soil Testing

Testing of soil is a fundamental exercise in the maintenance of turf, as soil test results serve to inform numerous key management decisions. The UMass Soil and Plant Tissue Testing Laboratory provides a complete range of soil testing services for professionals and homeowners alike.
