2024-2025 Snow Mold Research Results
August 27, 2025

Field product evaluation trials for the control of Typhula blight snow mold (Typhula spp.) and pink snow mold (Microdochium nivale) were conducted during the 2024–2025 winter season at sites in Windsor, Vermont, and Bretton Woods, New Hampshire. At both locations, 22 treatments and an untreated control were applied to three replicated fairway plots. Results from these studies provide recommendations for treatments that demonstrated efficacy across multiple environments. Disease pressure was greater at Windsor, where 56% of the untreated plots showed snow mold symptoms, compared with 38% at Bretton Woods. With the exception of three treatments, all fungicide programs reduced symptomatic turf to less than 2%.

Consistently effective treatments, either applied alone or in mixtures, included:

  • Aramax 3.14SC at 0.75 fl oz
  • Traction 3.24SC at 1.3 fl oz
  • NFA0630401 at 0.75 fl oz

Treatments showing site-dependent performance included:

  • Aramax 3.14SC at 0.5 fl oz, which provided complete control at Bretton Woods but performed moderately poorly at Windsor.
  • Instrata 3.6SE at 11.0 fl oz, which resulted in 10% disease incidence at Windsor and slight disease presence at Bretton Woods.

Full treatment lists, detailed results, and environmental conditions are available in our peer-reviewed and accepted Plant Disease Management Reports (PDMR), linked below:
