Project Title:
What Can We Learn From Housefly Saliva?
Program Year:
Major:
Plant and Soil Sciences
Supervisor:
John Stoffolano
Project description
This summer I worked in John Stoffolano’s lab studying houseflies. I spent most of my time raising the flies, and then dissecting them after a period of starvation and feeding. My goal was to measure saliva production after feeding on protein, following up on a similar experiment done with sugar. Due to complications within the process, I instead ended up redoing the controls of the previous experiment to account for a certain variable.
