Hi, my name is Charlie Petersen. I am a rising senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst in the Environmental Science Program. I grew up in Medway, Massachusetts; a calm small suburban town close to the border of Rhode Island. As a kid I would find myself outdoors exploring things in nature, but as I got older I spent more time inside.
Looking to reconnect with this aspect of my life I found the REEU program. This internship has given me the ability to merge academic knowledge with real world experiences. I'm excited to continue learning, growing, and applying what I've gained to contribute to the field that first captivated me as a child. As the summer draws to a close, I'm reminded of all the people I've met and the invaluable memories and experience gained from the REEU program. I can't thank everyone enough for this opportunity.
