Spring Brings the Return of Horticultural Newsletters from UMass Extension

Yellow Cornus mas blooms against a blue sky.
March 16, 2026

Hort Notes is written for landscapers, grounds managers, arborists, and other green industry professionals with the understanding that home gardeners may also look to this publication for information as well. This newsletter and emphasizes timely plant health care practices and problem-solving information and includes monthly email alerts to emerging landscape insect and disease problems while providing timely Integrated Pest Management strategies.  Hort Notes is published monthly over an extended season, and there are 10 issue per year: Take me to Hort Notes!

The Landscape Message informs and guides land care professionals in the management of our collective landscape. Detailed reports from scouts and Extension specialists on growing conditions, pest activity, and cultural practices for the management of plants in the landscape are regular features. Approximately 20 messages are published each year. A new message is available weekly during the heart of the growing season, bi-weekly in mid to late summer, and monthly in early spring and fall. We will begin a new season of the Landscape Message on March 27: Take me to the Landscape Message!

Receive word in your inbox every time that each of these newsletters is published by joining our email subscription list.
