Get hands-on experience scouting and identifying landscape and turf insect problems. Join Tawny Simisky, UMass Extension Entomologist, and Dr. Olga Kostromytska, Turf Entomologist with the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, for a walk around parts of the Waugh Arboretum and the UMass Amherst landscape.
Haven’t seen spotted lanternfly (Lycorma delicatula) in person yet? You may have the chance during this program. An update about the status of spotted lanternfly in Massachusetts will be provided by special guest Elizabeth Barnes, Forest Pest Outreach Coordinator, MA Department of Agricultural Resources.
Introduced and native pests of trees, shrubs, and turf will be discussed.
The event is held rain or shine. Dress for walking and the day's weather. Bring a clipboard, pencil and hand lens, if possible.
Pesticide & Professional Credits
Pesticide credits: 2 pesticide contact hours for category 36, 37, and Applicators License available.
Association credits: 2 ISA, 1 MCLP, 1 MCA, and 1 MCH credits available.
Note: You must have ID, such as a driver's license, to receive pesticide credits.
