Integrating research and outreach education from UMass Amherst
Center for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (CAFE) Extension Faculty are UMass Amherst faculty members located within academic departments. In addition to their teaching duties, the academic research conducted by Extension Faculty is integrated with educational programs, resources, tools or technologies that meet the needs of citizens, communities, organizations, businesses, government agencies, or policy-makers. Extension Faculty portfolios are diverse but they hold in common a responsibility to conduct, disseminate and apply research in practical ways so as to address some of our Commonwealth’s most pressing needs.
