Cranberry Weather Summaries

June 2025

July 25, 2025

Weather as Recorded at the UMass Cranberry Station:

East Wareham

Prepared by Peter Jeranyama

June was drier than average, above average temperatures and sunshine hours. The mean temperature for the month was 69 degrees, 3.4 degrees above average.  Maximum temperature was 98 degrees on the 25th; a minimum temperature of 42 degrees (3.4 degrees colder than long-term average) was recorded on the 1st.  Daytime high temperatures averaged 78.3 degrees, 5.6 degrees above the norm. There was an official heat wave from June 21st to the 26th.  A heat wave is when there is an air temperature of at least 85oF for three consecutive days. June had 6 consecutive days whose day temperatures were above 85oF.  Evening low temperatures averaged 59.6 degrees, and 2.5 degrees above the norm.

Sunshine average was 55% of the possible sunshine hours recorded.  This is similar to the long-term average for June sunshine recorded at the Blue Hills Observatory. Seven days were rated as sunny (90% or greater of possible) and 6 days with no sunshine in the month.

Precipitation totaled 1.81 inches, 0.6 inches less than 2024.  We had measurable precipitation on 9 days of which 3 days had precipitation less than 0.10 inches.  The largest 24-hour rainfall was 0.97 inches on the 8th.  Year-to-date rainfall for 2025 now stands at 23.16 inches, 2 inches below average.

The first half of 2025 has been drier with rainfall below the long-term average for the period. The rainfall for the first half was 1.96 inches below the 30-year long-term average rainfall. The winter temperature (December to February) was 1.4 degrees colder than the average while the spring months (March to May) were 3 degrees warmer than the long-term average. Sunshine hours have been above average for the first half of the year.
