The University of Massachusetts Amherst

Commander's Welcome

Welcome to Air Force ROTC Detachment 370 and your opportunity to start an adventure that can take you around the world.  College students enroll in our program as part of their college curriculum and upon graduation they are commissioned as officers in the Air Force as pilots, engineers, nurses, or as one of thirty other job specialties.

While UMass Amherst serves as the host school, our cadets come from over a dozen colleges and universities around Amherst and Springfield.  In addition to training and educating future leaders, our program allows cadets to join a professional network that stretches up and down the Pioneer Valley, that links our cadets and officers to the 144 other AFROTC detachments around the country, and that connects us to Air Force units and personnel across the globe.  Consequently, when you join Det 370, you join a tight-knit social group with a world-wide perspective.

We designed this website to provide you with information about our program to help you determine if a commission in the Air Force is right for you.  While the site offers a wealth of resources and information, I encourage you to contact us directly with your questions, or if you are in the area, consider visiting our building and speaking with the cadets and the officers of Det 370.  The next generation of Air Force leaders is being trained today and you can be one of them!
