Ximena Hurtado is a doctoral candidate in the W.E.B. Du Bois Department of Afro-American Studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. She is also an associate researcher at the Centro de Estudios Afrodiaspóricos CEAF in Colombia and founding member of the Biblioteca de Mujeres Negras (Library of Black Women) #BibliotecadeMujeresNegras in South America. Her research interests lie in the history of colonial slavery in South America, Black women’s history, Black girlhood, and colonialism.
