The Common Wealth Mural Collaborative (CWMC) is dedicated to bringing more mural art in to public places through the management of mural installations and mural festivals. CWMC produces Fresh Paint Springfield, an annual mural festival which installed 10 large murals in downtown Springfield in June 2019. Fresh Paint Springfield 2020 will bring 15 to 20 more murals and related events to downtown and the Mason Square neighborhood. https://www.freshpaintspringfield.com/
The CWMC Video and Design Assistant Editor will work closely with the Director and the Producer to produce promotional and informational videos about Fresh Paint Springfield using footage from the 2019 festival. Additionally, a local, professional video producer will be available for student learning support. The intern will assist in planning content and will shoot and edit video content for the 2020 festival. If the person in this position has the experience and interest, they would also be involved in graphic design of promotional materials using InDesign.
The successful candidate will have experience as a field production assistant, knows how to use a video camera with microphone and tripod and compose shots, download media from the drives, catalog, transcribe audio using AI software (easy), and edit footage in to compelling stories. She or he will also be organized, a self-starter, able to work with minimal supervision but lots of instruction, a solid communicator, and an interest in public art projects. Familiarity with Springfield is strongly preferred.
Fresh Paint Springfield 2020 will take place from mid-May to mid-June. The person accepting this position must be available to work through the end of June. There will be an option to extend the position through August.
Proficiency in Adobe Premiere and/or Final Cut is required. Experience with InDesign is preferred but not required.
