Donna McGee is a local potter with years of experience working as a full-time production potter in a large fully functioning studio equipped with kilns, slab roller, wheel, tables, tile making equipment. Full line of functional pots and tiles in production. Work sold through various means, including retail store in Northampton, studio sales, wholesale, and consignment.
Internship offered is with local potter/ceramic artist with years of experience who is interesting in helping out aspiring potter and/or ceramic artist. Successful applicant will work closely with potter in all aspects of studio life which will be shared and examined. Internship duties include handling clay and glazes, mixing and recylcling, keeping studio clean and well organized, kiln loading and unloading, wiping pots, waxing, glazing, packing, unpacking etc. Many possible other opportunities may become available, and course credit will be pursued pending desire of applicant. Training provided as part of internship. Looking for applicant with passion for clay.
PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP/EMPLOYMENT: Spring, Summer, or Fall
PAY TYPE: unpaid
OPPORTUNITY TYPE: internship
JOB STATUS: Part time. Hours to be mutually determined, at least two half days per week.
LOCATION: in Hadley MA, about 25 minute bike ride from UMass. Near the bus route.
