I am a local artist completing a large scale, MFA thesis project planned for exhibition next spring at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Currently at phase 2 of the project, my hope is for interns to assist in the external physical completion as a functional and possibly solar powered kinetic historical object.
INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION : This project involves the transformation of a 20’ diameter merry-go round. Duties include surface preparations such as polishing and buffing of kiddie sized metal horses, wood sanding and staple removal. Some lifting. Re-wiring electric lighting. Possible assembly and disassembly. This is a very unique and fascinating project that deals with an early 20th century cultural artifact. Most of the work will be done in the sculpture dept. and my art studio at UMass. 2-4 interns. Safety training required.
