Arts Management Assistant (PAID, Work Study), Common Wealth Mural Collaborative, Springfield, MA

The Common Wealth Mural Collaborative (CWMC) is dedicated to bringing more mural art in to public places through the management of mural installations and mural festivals. CWMC produces Fresh Paint Springfield, an annual mural festival which installed 10 large murals in downtown Springfield in June 2019. INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:
This position is ideal for someone interested in arts administration and/or non-profit administration, marketing, event planning, community organizing, and fundraising.

The CWMC Arts Management Assistant will work closely with and learn from the Director. In this position, the Assistant will assist in administration, event marketing, event planning, fundraising, press relations and community organizing. The Assistant will have the opportunity to meet and work the leaders of Springfield businesses and cultural institutions, city officials and local and national artists. The successful candidate will be able to take direction and work independently, and complete tasks on deadline. To be successful in this position the Assistant should be a confident communicator who is willing to ask for help and clarification when needed. The Director will support the Assistant in learning how to professionally represent CWMC and FPS in meetings and in written communication. Familiarity with Springfield is strongly preferred. Some travel to meetings around Springfield will be required.

PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP/EMPLOYMENT: October 2019 – June 30th, 2020. Fresh Paint Springfield 2020 will take place from mid-May to mid-June. The person accepting this position must be available to work through the end of June. There will be an option to extend the position through August.

PAY TYPE: Paid

OPPORTUNITY TYPE: Work-Study job ($12/hour)

JOB STATUS: Part-time, est. 10 hours / week

LOCATION: Most work can be done from home/campus, but travel to Springfield once or twice a week will be required
