"Artist-in-Business" Training Coming to Holyoke this March

As part of AES's Arts Entrepreneurship Initiative, AES will be offering an Artist-in-Business Training at the Massachusetts High Performance Green Computing Center, March 14-15. In this weekend-long intensive, artists learn and create elements of both their business and marketing plans and leave with next steps to build their business. Sessions topics include pricing, web and offline marketing, understanding your market, finding funds, and finance basics. The Massachusetts High Performance Green Computing Center is located at 100 Bigelow Street, Holyoke, MA.

One of the advantages of our 5 College area is access to interns! For students, interning defines career paths and builds resumes. For creative businesses and non-profit organizations, interns bring fresh ideas, energy and a willingness to learn.
In the Interns for Artists, Arts-Based Businesses, and Non-Profits Information session, potential internship providers will learn how to become an internship provider, labor law compliance, and best practices for making the most of your intern's time. Information sessions will be presented this winter in Holyoke and Northampton.

When the Arts Extension Service's founder and now Senate President, Stan Rosenberg, was sworn in on January 7th, he was joined by several of our former Directors and Arts Extension Institute Board members, Barbara Schaffer-Bacon and Robert Lynch.
Barbara Schaffer-Bacon, now Co-Director of Animating Democracy, a program at Americans for the Arts noted that Stan now joins other important individuals from the Commonwealth's history, "It was awesome to see Stan take his place with the likes of Samuel Adams, Horace Mann, Calvin Coolidge, and Maurice Donahue."

"Governor Deval Patrick today signed an Executive Order establishing both a Public Art Commission (Commission) and Massachusetts Percent for Art Program (MPAP) to support the preservation of existing and creation of new public art in Boston and Gateway Cities across the Commonwealth."
