Our arts management and arts entrepreneurship students are always busy - and the summer is no different. We asked our on-campus students what they were up to this summer - here is what a few of them had to say:
Melanie Soter (Art History) “I’m excited to intern at Museum of Fine Arts, Boston AND at Vose Galleries, LLC."
Elizabeth Polvere (BDIC: Marketing, Advertising, and Arts Administration) “This summer I will be interning with The Exhibits Department at The Smithsonian Institution as the 2018 Marketing Intern! I landed this great opportunity by applying to as many internships as possible. I kept the mindset of “you can’t get accepted, if you don’t apply” and it helped me to score this amazing opportunity with the world’s largest museum and research complex, somewhere that I once could only dream of working!”
Shae Forest (Dance) “I’ll be dancing with a contemporary company in Boston called Pantos Project Dance and working at a restaurant on Cape Cod to save up for studying abroad this Fall in London!”
Kristen Flanagan (Piano Performance) “This summer I’ll be a Box Office Apprentice at the Spoleto Festival USA in Charleston, South Carolina.”
Kyera Laabs (Business Management and Dance) “This summer I am doing two social media and marketing internships. As Planning Committee Chair for the Arts Extension Service’s Women in Arts Leadership Symposium I will interview local female artists about the barriers to women’s success in the arts, and promote WALS through social media. For my second internship, I will be working closely with the founder of Arts Promo to promote their clients and create online contests and giveaway for clients products. I’ll be busy!”
Audrey Klenzak (Music) “I am moving to Germany to be an Au Pair for a year! I plan to play in local orchestras and hopefully study with a professional trombonist.”
Alex Libenson (Exploratory Track- HFA) “I’ll be backpacking through South America from Quito, Ecuador to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina! This ties into the project I developed in Foundations of Arts Entrepreneurship this spring - a free blog platform for me to share my photos and stories as a traveling nature photographer. I am excited to see lots of street art and museums, too.”
