Local Arts Agency Fundamentals

Local Arts Agency Fundamentals:  The National Endowment for the Arts supported a unique collaboration of the Arts Extension Service and Americans for the Arts to create and pilot two new Local Arts Agency trainings based on the stated needs of the field:

  • Reimagining Resources through Partnership Development addresses the realities that the lack of federal and state funds has on LAA programming.  This program takes a fresh look at how to create more with less through partnership development and sharing existing resources.
  • Planning for LAA's is an introductory course for Local Arts Agency staff and board members that teaches not only the types of plans (strategic, cultural, contingency, etc.), but when to use which, how to hire and work with consultants, and what to do to prepare for a plan.

Creative Economy Program: This workshop offers a step-by-step framework for developing, implementing, and sustaining a successful creative economy program in your community. Based on original research conducted by AES, this workshop offers participants an overview of likely challenges as well as best practices in the field.  This program is easily enhanced with the Creative Economy Workbook.
