Arts Fundraising and Development Internship , Empowerment through the Arts

Empowerment Through The Arts, (ETTA Arts) is a creative partnership of individuals, human service agencies, artists, therapists and arts organizations dedicated to creating inclusive programming and ARTS opportunities for the enrichment and empowerment of individuals labeled as “developmentally disabled”. ETTA Arts is dedicated to offering training in the arts to ALL abilities. Inclusion in the Arts and Culture increases the benefit for the entire community.

We seek community partners and multi-year funding sources as well as donations for the operation of this unique new non-profit. We believe in taking bold steps in creating unquestioned access to inclusive arts programming for this diverse group of individuals: diverse in terms of ethnicity, culture and ability; artists, performers, comedians, and individuals.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION:

The fundraising and development intern will assist in the following areas: grant research, donor research, and fundraising events. Interns will work directly with staff and/or appointed members from the organization on researching funding opportunities online and in the business community.  Participating in intern meetings, with weekly check-ins, and scheduling follow ups for task completion.  These could be hybrid with some  meetings in person.

Work may include the following:

  • Identify grant/foundation opportunities;
  • Help to create a grant calendar;
  • Help  to conduct donor research;
  • Assist to create individual donor cultivation plans;
  • Draft narratives and case studies for grant applications;
  • Draft donor solicitation materials;
  • Generate commonly used development documents, i.e. development calendars, print materials, and other supplementary materials for campaigns;
  • Assist in planning development events;
  • Research and assist in developing online fundraising campaigns;
  • Other tasks as needed to follow up on the above.

Requirements:

  • An enthusiasm for the organization's mission;
  • Strong writing skills;
  • General understanding of fundraising and development;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication;
  • Experience in working with Google Drive and Apple systems;
  • Willing to brainstorm and collaborate.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Completion of AES Arts Fundraising course or other preparation for fundraising and development work;
  • Prior experience with a crowdfunding campaign.

PERIOD OF INTERNSHIP/EMPLOYMENT: Multiple Semesters/Seasons

PAY TYPE:  Unpaid; Possibility of credit through current degree plan- as approved by advisor or professor.

OPPORTUNITY TYPE: Internship

JOB STATUS: Part-time, 8-0 hours per week

LOCATION: 236 N. Pleasant St, Amherst MA 01002 (Next to Spotted Cow statue)
