R3 Model

The R3 model for supporting faculty collaboration (and equity) focuses on three necessary elements for success:R3 Model

  1. resources
  2. relationships
  3. recognition

Resources reflect material support available to faculty, relationships capture the development of supportive networks, and recognition identifies how work is evaluated and rewarded. The R3 model suggests that if faculty members, irrespective of gender, nationality, race/ethnicity, or field, have equal access to the resources necessary to do their work, equal access to relationships with colleagues, and equal access to recognition for the work that they do, faculty members will be more successful, and the institution will be more inclusive and equitable.
