Each award must normally be spent or encumbered within 12 months of receipt of award. Extensions have been granted for AY 2019-2020 and AY 2020-2021 awardees due to COVID-19. The ADVANCE Team will conduct brief check-ins with awardees at the 1/3 and 2/3 marks of the proposed project timeline.
Reporting Requirements
Each awardee is required to submit one progress report to the ADVANCE Program within 12 months from the date of the award. The ADVANCE Program will issue requests for progress reports and completion of a brief survey prior to the reporting deadline. Required information in these reports will include:
- Brief description of work completed
- Brief description of results to date, including scientific results, teaching impacts, and other factors related to the review criteria
- Specific identification of sources of external support and identification of steps taken to secure such support
- Listings of publications or draft publications resulting from the work
If you have had any challenges or barriers that have prevented you from completing aspects of the work, please describe those in the report. If you have finished using the seed funding, please include that information.
Regulatory Requirements
All research must be conducted in a manner consistent with published University policies and with regard to state and federal laws and policies. If your project requires approval from an institutional human subjects or animal care and use committee, all associated regulations apply.
Other Expectations
Awardees will be asked to participate in an annual survey provided by the ADVANCE Team which gathers information about the collaborations associated with the seed funds. Additionally, awardees may be contacted in future award cycles to act as reviewers for seed fund proposals.
