Residential Area Exploration: North Apartments

Facebook Twitter
UMass North Apartments

Location: North Apartments are located next to Northeast and Sylvan residential areas on the North-end of campus. STEM buildings, like the Integrated Science Building and the Lederle Towers, are less than five minutes away from you.

Room-set up:  North has apartment-style housing.  Each apartment has four single rooms, two full baths, a furnished common space, and kitchen with appliances.

Pros:  One huge benefit of North is the centralized-air system. It is also in a prime location, while at the same time offering more independence than dorm-living.  If you move in with friends, having a living room and kitchen provides the opportunity to decorate-it-up and really make it feel like home.

Cons:  $$$. North is pricey (but for a good reason). You are paying for independence, privacy, and location. If money is less of a concern, North is definitely worth considering.

Overall:  North typically houses upperclassmen, although my friends moved in sophomore year and loved it so much they dragged another friend and me in this year. A lot of my friends live in houses more than fifteen minutes away from campus. Meanwhile, I love being able to roll out of bed and get to class in under five minutes. Totman Gym also has a recreational pool and is located right next to my building. I was a competitive swimmer growing up so doing laps is a great way for me to destress.

Antibes Post: Sushi Shop

When I started blogging from abroad, my intention was to keep my posts general enough that all future-abroaders could find them somewhat useful. I’ve realized, though, that many of my posts are specific to Antibes, so ... if you’re planning on studying in the French Riviera through CEA, enjoy!
