UMass Amherst has plenty of resources to help you adjust to college, succeed here, and achieve your goals, no matter what types of assistance you need.
General Support Services
The Dean of Students Office (DOS) is a key place to go if you run into some sort of trouble at UMass Amherst. They are there to help you negotiate the bureaucracy of the campus (a very important skill to master) and to help you resolve university-related problems. The Dean of Students and the staff in the office can answer your questions, advocate on your behalf, or point you and your family in the right direction to get problems solved.
The Ombuds Office helps to make sure that everyone on campus gets treated fairly. They assist in resolving conflicts with instructors or campus offices, and they also serve as advocates, making recommendations for changes in UMass Amherst’s rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
