Spring Open House - Schedule of Events

Here is a general schedule of events for all Spring Open Houses for admitted students. A detailed schedule will be provided at registration.

Since Open House events are held across campus, please wear comfortable shoes and be prepared in the event of inclement weather.

Programs:

 

Condensed Schedule:

  • 7:45-8:30 AM – Early Campus Tours
  • 8 AM – Registration
  • 8-9:20 AM – Resource Fair
  • 9:30-10:15 AM – Welcome
  • 10:30-11:15 AM – Session I block
  • 11:30 AM-12:15 PM – Session II block
  • 12:15 PM – Lunch
  • 2:00 PM – Afternoon Sessions (School & College presentations; Additional Program Offerings) 

 

Detailed Schedule:

♦ 7:45 - 8:15 a.m.

Early Campus Tours. Take a 45-minute walking tour of campus.  The last early tour will depart promptly at 8:15 a.m. from the Registration venue.  Additional tours are available throughout the day.  Please indicate your interest in taking a tour when registering so we can plan accordingly. This is a similar campus tour as offered by the Visitor's Center. Please note this is a condensed tour, and that the tours may overlap with the Resource Fair.

 

♦ 8:00 a.m.

Registration Opens. Please bring a printout of the check-in barcode you received when you registered online.  

 

♦ 8:00 - 9:20 a.m.

Campus Resource Fair. Representatives from academic departments, residence life, dining services, student programs, parent services, and other areas will be available to talk with you.

 

♦ 9:00-9:30 a.m.

Enjoy the musical entertainment of a UMass Amherst a capella or music group.

 

♦ 9:30 a.m.

University Welcome.  The UMass Amherst community welcomes you! The Director of Admissions and faculty / student speakers will formally welcome you to campus and provide an overview of the day's program. 

 

♦ 9:30 - 11:00 a.m.

Tour of Pre-Veterinary Laboratories and the Hadley Farm.  This tour is offered specifically for those interested in Animal Science and Pre-Veterinary Studies. The tour is offered only once, and will depart from the Registration venue. Transportation for this tour will be provided.  Please indicate your interest in taking the tour when registering so we can plan accordingly. Please note that this tour overlaps with the Welcome and the 10:30 a.m. Information Sessions.

Information Sessions. Choose one option:

♦ 11:30 a.m.

Information Sessions.  Please note the offerings are the same as the 10:30 a.m. information sessions. Choose one option:

♦ 12:15 p.m.

Lunch break.  Lunch will be provided in our four award-winning Dining Commons.

Academic Sessions. Meet with representatives from the UMass Schools/Colleges and academic departments to learn more about the academic offerings.  

 

Additional Program Offerings

 

Campus Tour  (Departs from the Campus Center Information Desk at 2:30 p.m.).  Take a 75-minute walking tour of campus.  Please note that previous tours during the day are condensed, lasting approximately 45 minutes. This is a similar campus tour as offered by the Visitor's Center. 

Recreation Center Tours  (Depart from the Recreation Center Lobby).  Tour our comprehensive, inclusive, and progressive recreation program that encourages an active and healthy lifestyle and promotes student development and leadership.

  • Friday and Saturday:  10:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Sunday:  12:15 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Tour a Student Room (Drop-in any time between 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m., Crabtree and Gorman Halls).  View a student room within Crabtree Hall (Northeast Residential Community) or Gorman Hall (Central Residential Community) and meet with representatives from Residential Life to learn about living at UMass. Please note: If you are taking the campus tour you will see a student room as part of the tour.

Commonwealth Honors College Information Session & Student Panel (2:00 p.m., Commonwealth Honors College Events Hall). Please note: This is the same information session that is being offered in the morning. Guests are invited to just join the Student Panel at 2:30 p.m..

Residential Academic Programs (RAP) Q&A (Drop-in any time between 2:30-4:00 p.m.). Join RAP representatives for Q&A

University Museum of Contemporary Art  (Concert Hall Lobby, Fine Arts Center).  Tour our multidisciplinary, international teaching museum for the exploration and advancement of contemporary art. The museum is open free of charge to all guests.

  • Friday: 11:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • Saturday & Sunday: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. 

University Store  (Campus Center).  Your program contains a discount coupon for UMass clothing and gift purchases when you spend $50 or more.  Refer to the coupon or consult with store staff for exclusions.
