What happens if the April Visit Day date I want is full?
If registration has been closed for a particular date, your best option is to choose another date. If you cannot make any of the remaining April Visit Days, we encourage you to explore other options for Visiting Campus.
If arrive after the registration check-in time you may miss some of the important components of our program.
The UMass Hotel and Conference Center, Hotel UMass, will offer a discounted rate to families attending Spring Open House. Please use group code "SPR" to receive the discount. For information on other accommodations, please check the area lodging page on our Visitors Center website.
Signs will direct you to the April Visit Day check-in location. For the Spring Open House guests will park at the Mullins Center, 200 Commonwealth Avenue, Amherst MA 01003. For the Minuteman for a Day events guests will park at the Campus Center Parking Garage (GPS address: 1 Campus Center Way, Amherst, MA 01003). If your vehicle will not meet the garage clearance limit (7 feet 2 inches), please refer to the Visitors Parking Map for alternative parking sites. If the parking garage is full then you will be directed to a non-restricted lot and provided with directions to the registration area.
Guests with a valid disability placard or plate may park in spaces reserved for use by those with disabilities, In the garage handicap-parking can be found on Levels 2 & 4 in the Campus Center Parking Garage.

Yes. Guests will dine in the UMass Amherst Dining Commons and be able to select their own meal from a wide variety of options (UMass Amherst is ranked #2 in the country for best campus food)! All of the UMass Amherst Dining Commons and campus eateries offer vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free menu options on a daily basis. Certified Kosher dining is available at Franklin Dining Commons, and Halal dining is available in Worcester Dining Commons. Both will be available for the Open Houses. All programs conclude in the afternoon, at which point you are free to explore campus further. Most academic departments and administrative offices are open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. if you have specific questions.
Can I schedule an appointment with an admissions counselor or a representative from an individual academic department?
Admissions counselors will be available during each April Visit Day, so there is no need to make a separate appointment. In addition, representatives from the university's schools and colleges will be available at the Spring Open House Resource Fair from 8:30-10:00 a.m., and many again at 2:00 p.m. If you still wish to speak with an individual from a particular academic department, please contact the department in advance and schedule an appointment after 2 p.m. (Monday-Friday only).
Offices and departments on campus are open Monday through Friday until 5:00 pm. As offices are not open on the weekends, please plan your spring open house day to meet with representatives during the scheduled programming. For the Spring Open House most offices and departments are represented at the morning Resource Fair and several will host individual sessions.
Should I attend an April Visit Day for Admitted Students if I'm also invited to the Isenberg School of Management Open House?
The Isenberg School of Management is individually hosting a program-specific event on April 11th.
You should attend only one event. The Isenberg School of Management open house will cover information specific to the school in addition to general campus information. Isenberg handles their own registration. If you cannot attend the Isenberg open house, however, you are welcome to attend an Open House for Admitted Students, where you also will have an opportunity to get information on your academic area of interest. To change or cancel your reservation, please follow the following instructions specific to the event: For the Spring Open House go to your SPIRE Admitted Student page and click on the Spring Open House registration link. Make the changes you need and then click on “Update Open House Registration.” Bring the new check-in barcode you receive after updating your registration to the Open House. For the Minuteman for a Day events simply email email@example.com.
If you are cancelling your reservation, simply click the “Cancel Open House Registration” button.
To reprint your check-in barcode, please go to your SPIRE Admitted Student page and click on the Spring Open House registration link. Once your registration page has opened, click the “Reprint Check-in Barcode” button. Please remember to bring your check-in barcode on the day of the Spring Open House!
The registration confirmation email was sent to the email account you provided on your application. Please confirm that we have your correct email address by reviewing your SPIRE Admitted Student page. You can update your email address here if necessary. If we have your correct email address on file, then please check your spam folder.
You can have the registration confirmation email resent. Log into your SPIRE Admitted Student page and click on the Spring Open House registration link. Click on Update Open House Registration to have another email sent. (Note: you do not need to change your reservation to do this.)
Yes. The printed copy of your check-in barcode will be used to check you into the Open House Event and will help expedite the process.
No. We are unable to scan your check-in barcode from your phone. Please bring a printed copy of your check-in barcode.
Yes, everyone is welcome. Please note that childcare is not provided, however.
