Transportation on Campus

For individuals arriving in their own vehicle, UMass Amherst offers reserved accessible parking at a number of lots around campus.

For those who require transportation within or around the UMass Amherst campus, UMass Transit operates Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) buses, all of which are ADA wheelchair accessible. For individuals with disabilities that prevent them from riding the fixed route bus service, PVTA Paratransit Service offers shared-ride, door-to-door van transportation.

Accommodations for an Event

It is the responsibility of the Event Planner to ensure that the accessibility needs of event participants are met including financial accountability for any costs associated with meeting accommodation needs, ensuring that materials are presented in a universally accessible way, and that the location of the event is accessible. Event Planners are encouraged to have a registration system that includes questions about accommodation needs, whether due to mobility, dietary restrictions, visual needs, auditory issues, or other.

If there is no registration system for an event and someone needs to request accommodations, they can email disability @umass.edu who will help route the request to the event organizers.

If you need accommodations for the University Commencement at McGuirk Alumni Stadium, please refer to the UMass Commencement website.
