Before You Get Started
All UMass Amherst sponsored events are required to be as accessible as possible. It is the responsibility of the Event Planner to ensure that the accessibility needs of event participants are met. This responsibility includes several areas of obligation on the part of the Event Planner, including financial accountability for any costs associated with meeting accommodation needs, ensuring that materials are presented in a universally accessible way, and that the location of the event is accessible.
Planning Your Event
To guarantee the success of an event, consideration of attendee accessibility needs should begin early as part of an event’s initial planning process. This includes considerations of accessibility needs through attendee communication, the location of the event, transportation to the event (if appropriate), and guaranteeing presentation materials are prepared in an accessible way.
