Per the guidance of NSF, all personnel engaged in and/or funded by NSF Accelerating Research Translation must complete NSF Research Security Training and Export Control Training. Required personnel are defined as anyone who contributes in a substantive, meaningful way to the scientific development or execution of or relating to Accelerating Research Translation at UMass Amherst.

The NSF Research Security Training and Export Control modules are available as CITI courses in the UMass Amherst subscription.

See the instructions for adding Research Security training to your profile are here: Research Security Training : Research and Engagement : UMass Amherst. Once you add the NSF Research Security Training course, you will have access and must complete all 4 modules. This will require about 4 hours to complete.

See the instructions for adding Export Control training to your profile are here:  Export Control Training : Research and Engagement : UMass Amherst. Once you add the Export Control course, you will have access and must complete 2 modules. This will require about 1 hour to complete.

Please do this through CITI, as completion is tracked by the Office of Research Compliance. You do not need to have a UMass email address in order to complete these training courses through CITI. However, you must affiliate your CITI account with UMass Amherst.

If you have already done these trainings through the NSF website, you must send your certificates of completion (4 total) to Melinda LeLacheur (@email), who is responsible for UMass Amherst’s database of those who completed the NSF Research Security Training.

If you have any questions about the training, please reach out to Melinda LeLacheur at @email or Heather Aiken at @email.
