Berkshire Innovation Center
The Berkshire Innovation Center (BIC) will offer laboratory space and accelerator programs to enable UMass startups to take full advantage of their physical space and network of experienced manufacturing partners, who have demonstrated interest in supporting startups to increase their manufacturing readiness and progress towards commercial products. The BIC’s mission of spurring job growth and economic development aligns well with the ART project’s long-term objectives.
FORGE
The FORGE helps innovators navigate the journey from physical prototype through to commercialization and impact at scale. The organization serves a wide-ranging community of physical-product startups and innovators, helping them bridge the gap from prototype or small batch production to full commercial scale. FORGE is headquartered at Greentown Labs in Somerville, MA and has a regional office in Springfield. Thus the organization’s mission and locations are well aligned with Accelerating Research Translation at UMass.
Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives
Massachusetts Biomedical Initiatives (MBI) is the longest running biotech incubator in the Commonwealth. Their facilities and services meet the needs of new companies at exactly the stage at which they outgrow our Collaboratories. As well, MBI’s experiences contributing to the economic revitalization of Worcester offer lessons and best practices that can inform the ART team’s drive toward scalability and sustainability.
MassVentures

MassVentures will provide support for STRPs and startup companies through their investment and mentorship programs for deep technology companies in all sectors.
