 |
Description: | Jefferson, Joseph (1829-1905): At the age of 4, the American actor was carried on to the stage by Thomas D. Rice. At the age of eight, he was acting to support the family. In 1858, as Asa Trenchard in Tom Taylor’s Our American Cousin, he established himself as a first rank actor. He is reputed to have said "There are no small parts, only small actors" to E. A.
