4+1 Accelerated Master's Degree in Civil Engineering

Civil Engineers enhance public health and quality of life by designing, constructing, and maintaining infrastructure while considering natural systems. They use mathematics and physical sciences to efficiently utilize resources and improve well-being while protecting the environment. Within the broader field of civil engineering, master’s degree students align with one of four program areas: geotechnical engineering; structural engineering and mechanics; transportation engineering; or environmental and water resources engineering. *

This accelerated five-year coursework-based program allows up to 12 approved credit hours taken as a UMass undergraduate to count towards our 30-credit master's degree, and up to 6 of those hours can be double-counted to meet both BS and MS degree requirements.
