Sinology

Nothing characterizes the pioneering days of our science more than the effort to assemble a working Sinological library in some future center of scholarship. That primary phrase of resource gathering continued until about the middle of the 20th century. From then on, though growth continued and even accelerated, the academic profile had to some extent stabilized, and it became feasible to conduct surveys of existing Western library resources, both governmental and academic. Some summaries of the present state of Sinological library resources are given below.
