Web-Safe ColorsTheory and Notation
We here use the hex notation which is found in viewing HTML codes, and which must be used in editing those codes. We give only the web-safe colors, with red, green, and blue components specified by 00 ("no" color), 33, 66, 99, CC, or FF ("full" color). See Color Theory for further explanations.
Caveat. Be aware that the background color of your screen will affect the way these colors look to you. Viewer screen colors typically range from almost white to definitely blue.
Menu. We give first a gray scale, from FFFFFF White (full white) to 000000 White (full black), as an orientation to how the system works. Then come the three single-color options defined by FF0000, 00FF00, and 0000FF and their shadings, plus other non-neutral colors referred to by name in the usual home page program style menu. Finally, we divide all 216 options, including these, into six groups defined by their red level (from FF in the first group through 00 in the last). On those six tables, the four web-unsafe colors are displayed, but marked with an asterisk (*).
