Permission Forms

In this section are PDF basic forms for indicating permission by authors to publish their work in Warring States Papers. On completion of the editing process, and final author approval of copy, you as author will need to print out two copies of the proper form, sign both copies, fill in the date of signing after your signature, and mail to

We will countersign both copies, and mail one back to you for your records. Below is an outline of what is involved legally. Bottom line: authors retain all rights but one, with certain stipulations and expectations.

Preliminary

We should emphasize, for the record, that our accepting an article does not constitute a commitment to publish the article. Too many unforeseen factors, including natural disaster, may intervene. If after all we find we are unable to use your article, we will notify you promptly, so you can seek another venue.

Permission Policy

What WSP requires, and what the permission form grants to us, is the right of first serial publication. This includes the right to reprint that entire volume of the journal in response to future demand. It does not include the right to include your article in a volume of selections from the journal. If that should be contemplated, we will contact you separately. On publication of the volume containing your article, all rights of publication in other venues, and in revised form; in short, the ownership of your material, revert to you. We will send you, on publication, a copy of that volume of WSP, along with a PDF file containing the final text of your article, from which you may make offprints in any desired quantity; a cover sheet indicating the journal name and volume number will be included as the first page of the file.

We do ask that in any subsequent use of the material in yourt article, you acknowledge first publication in WSP. If questions arise, at any stage in the process, please contact us via the mail link below.
