Jau4 Chi2 . The first commentator on the Mencius text.

li4 V3 useful, effective, advantageous, profitable. Nominally despised by the Mencians (MC 1A1), who actually made much use of the principle of utility. Often contrasted with yi4 "what is right."

yi4 V3 right, appropriate. Paired with rvn2 "benevolence" in Mencius and Sywndz; often contrasted with li4 "profit."
