The University Writing Center

About the Writing Center

The Writing Center serves as a resource for writing and the teaching of writing for all members of the University. At the core of the Center's mission is to work one-on-one with writers who seek feedback on their work. All writers, whether first-year college students or professionals, benefit from sharing their work with others. Writers of all experience and from all disciplines are invited to use the Center.

The tutors in the Center are able to work with writers who are at any stage of the writing process (e.g., brainstorming and generative writing, drafting, revising, copy-editing) and with writers working on a wide range of genres from a variety of disciplines (e.g., academic and research essays, lab reports, application essays, senior and graduate theses, prose fiction).

This spring tutors from the Center will be facilitating several Writing Workshops on various topics. Please see the link on the right for more information.

In addition to its tutoring mission, the Center seeks to work with faculty members who incorporate--or who would like to incorporate--writing assignments in the courses they teach. To discuss curricular and pedagogical issues or to arrange for a session on an aspect of writing (drafting, peer responding, evaluating, etc.) to be presented to a class or to instructors, please contact the Director, Pat Zukowski.
