Choose a magazine article that is one to two pages in length. Distribute copies of article to students and take about ten minutes to let them read over the article. Next, put students into groups of about four, and ask them to analyze the article together in the following way:

  1. Pick a part of the article and summarize (students can summarize a chunk or a the whole text)
  2. Pick two small sections of the article and paraphrase
  3. Correctly introduce / integrate two quotes from the text
  4. Correctly cite the source

After the groups are done with the analyzing, have each group share their work out loud.
