Welcome to the Writing Center
The Writing Center is a place where students, faculty, and staff in the university can work with a
knowledgeable tutor on their writing. We meet individually with writers in 45-minute
consultations. After the writer tells us a little about the writing project and his/her concerns, a
writing tutor will ask questions, offer advice, and generally respond as an interested reader.
Our philosophy is that all writers can benefit from talking with an interested reader. For this reason, we ask lots of questions, give feedback, and offer advice. And we ask the writer to do the work. We hope that those visiting the Center will have learned a little something about themselves as writers.
